
Who we are
Centre for Alternative Development (CEfAD) is a national NGO established to contribute to addressing perpetual vulnerability conditions that undermine overcoming extreme poverty and inequality in Northern Uganda.
With myriads development constraints – youth unemployment, a wide spread practice of corruption, inefficient service delivery, other social dilemmas and the effect of climate change in Northern Uganda, CEfAD respond to addressing priority gaps in some of these social services with a focus on women and youth.
As a gender-focused organization, CEfAD is women-led with majority female staff, under the strategic oversight role of the Board of Directors (BOD) whose governance efforts have maintained focused despite constraints such as funding.

These strategic direction and founding values and principles form the basis of our functions and the determination of our priorities. Decisions on How We Work in regard our value-based decisions, partnership and rights-based approach, guide our commitment on the path we take towards the realisation of set vision and goals.
CEfAD Theory of Change further demonstrates the ‘’how’’ we deliver programme results and attribute to higher goals, through identified logic of change and overarching sphere of influence. CEfAD commits to results-based management approach through CEfAD Theory of Change, where parameters for change are identified and linked.
