About CEfAD

Centre for Alternative Development (CEfAD) is a national NGO established to contribute to addressing perpetual conditions that undermine overcoming extreme poverty and inequality in Uganda. With myriads development constraints – youth unemployment, a wide spread practice of corruption, inefficient service delivery and social dilemmas with natural resource management, CEfAD is founded to play a role in addressing priority gaps in some of these social services with a focus on women and youth.

Our Vision

A community free of social and economic injustices as and resilient to disasters.

 Our Mission

To empower communities and actors to embrace the cause and transformation to justice, economic security and enhancement of sustainable peace and wellbeing.

 Our Values

Responsiveness. Engagement. Stewardship

These strategic direction and founding values and principles form the basis of our functions and the determination of our priorities.  Decisions on How We Work in regard our value-based decisions, partnership and rights-based approach, guide our commitment on the path we take towards the realisation of set vision and goals.

CEfAD Theory of Change further demonstrates the ‘’how’’ we deliver programme results and attribute to higher goals, through identified logic of change and overarching sphere of influence. CEfAD commits to results-based management approach through CEfAD Theory of Change, where parameters for change are identified and linked.

In order to work with processes aimed at delivering change, CEfAD recognises the need for maintaining some critical capacity through staff recruitment, motivation and retention. Our career page Working with CEfAD provide highlights of CEfAD staff recruitment policy and vacancies available.

With a focus on exploring new development options and approaches, Centre for Alternative Development (CEfAD) aspires to create lasting solutions by providing services in business solutions, research, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building and project management support for NGOs, private sector and the government.
